Sad news indeed. Ted had worked across the ditch on 23cm SSB on several occasions. I was honoured to have worked him on some of those tropo openings. His signal will be missed in VK.

I think you will find the VKxPyy series started early 1980's, as I held VK2PGA issued 9-1-1981.

An even better relay than those mentioned so far is the HF 2000/6. Unfortunately it is no longer produced, but may be available on the second hand market - but I doubt it!
