Don't over look your local paint shop as a source of tin plate in the form of new unused paint tins.
I used a couple to make my VE4MA type feed horn for 23cm. Paint the tin after the solder work is done, for protection.

Re: 2.4GHZ VK4OX to ZL1TPH/P QSO
Congratulations to both Steve and Adrian - a fantastic result that demonstrates that effort pays off. Having spotted Steve's Logger posting indicating he was going to go portable, I was awaiting a good result - it turned out to be an historic result indeed - one for the permanent records. The audio ...

Check out the albino kookaburra on my 2m array mounting frame.
It has been in the local area for about the past 2 years.

Re: Wyong 28th Feb - who is going?
Hi, What a great day it was at Wyong today! It was good to catch up with lots of fellow amateurs from near and far, put faces to names and to 'chew the fat' about things amateur and learn what others are working on project wise. The much awaited presentation by Michael VK3KH, who was part of the VK9...

Re: Callsign identification - during the VK9NA activation
I too have worked Kirk in the past on 2m ssb. The callsign heard that night was announced as a single call. e.g "cq vk2*** "- not certain if phonetics were used. Many stations for whatever reason are reluctant to use phonetics, particularly during a CQ call. My own callsign (vk2dvz) is one...

Re: Callsign identification - during the VK9NA activation
Rob,
My hearing is known to play tricks on me and I do have industrial deafness, but I do believe the callsign was VK2MPR, as I wrote it down at the time.
I regularly wear headphones when 'on-air', and was doing so that evening.
OK on the UK license situation re opt-out.

Callsign identification - during the VK9NA activation
Hi, Now that the dust has settled, I would like to identify the user of callsign "VK2MPR" heard on 144.1 MHz, on 10-1-2010 during the approximate period from 0830 utc until about 1110 utc. After I made my initial contact with VK9NA, I listened to the prolific activity on 144.1 as other sta...

This circuit came my way the other day. Some may find it of interest.
I too have had one repaired under warranty.

Re: WSJT - Access Violation
This matter has been resolved. A newly updated anti-virus suite (new yearly subscription) was the cause of the disaster. The functionality of several programs was screwed up, rendering them unusable. I ditched the offending program, with a lot of effort to get it off the computer, and replaced it wi...

WSJT - Access Violation
Hi all, I have not been a user of WSJT, only a dabbler in the past. Recently I clicked on the desktop icon for WSJT on my laptop, running Windows XP Home edition. I immediately received the message "access violation at address 004091A2, write of address 00400000" I then proceeded to comple...

Re: IC290 problem
Hi Wayne, I have a IC-290H that I have had since new. It will transmit straight off the mike PTT, no accessory plug is needed for PPT. I used mine for general 2m use for many years and even managed a few EME 2m contacts on CW using it. I made up a separate switch box, comprising a few 12v relays, to...
