PS-49 PICO balloon HF payload WSPR JT9

Post by VK3YT »

Hi all,

FYI,

PS-49 is in the air.

Solar powered party balloon, 25mW TX
TX WSPR, JT9 on 30m and 20m

Dial frequency 10.138700Mhz and 14.095600Mhz (standard WSPR dial frequencies) for WSPR, JT9.
JT9 is at 1000Hz

See HF decoding info at http://picospace.net/?cat=34

Tracking as PS-49 on SNUS http://picospace.net/tracker/new
WSPR call sign is VK3YT http://wsprnet.org/olddb?findcall=vk3yt

TX scheduling
Minute - Band - Mode - Condition
:00 - 30m - 2 mins WSPR then two x 1 min JT9 - mandatory
:10 - 20m - 2 mins WSPR then two x 1 min JT9 - if batt full
:20 - 30m - 2 mins WSPR then two x 1 min JT9 - if batt full
:30 - 20m - 2 mins WSPR then two x 1 min JT9 - mandatory
:40 - 30m - 2 mins WSPR then two x 1 min JT9 - if batt full
:50 - 20m - 2 mins WSPR then two x 1 min JT9 - if batt full

Prediction:

Assistance with tracking is appreciated.

Hi All,

Can anyone listening to the JT9 signal on 10 MHz advise the current frequency offset it is transmitting on.

I can see the WSPR signal but have no decodes of the JT9 signal. I am looking 1000 Hz but no decodes as yet?

Jim.

...as mentioned in the notes from Andy, the JT9 is at 1000Hz on the waterfall when tuned to the standard WSPR 'dial frequency'.

Maybe propagation has just picked up for you ... a change from -22 to +2 in your WSPR decodes over the last hour, so you no doubt have the JT9 signal decoding now!

Good luck and 73,

hi,

Now have several decodes.

0703 -6 -0.3 997 @ 1/VC25GP5209X
0802 2 -0.0 994 @ VK3YT19B36RW0
1002 3 0.3 995 @ VK3YT19836Q80
1003 3 0.0 995 @ 1/S-26QQ4/ZC4
1103 -1 -0.0 995 @ 1/SM27334/M76

dont always get both packets, possibly due to other signals in the passband.

Rx here is GPS locked to 10.36870 Mhz

Thanks all for your replies.

Jim.
